Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is Ubisoft’s ground-up remake of Edward Kenway’s Caribbean adventure, and it launched on July 9, 2026. The release date and feature list below are based on Ubisoft’s published launch information and official game page. This is a factual overview, not a review based on hands-on play.
Release date and platforms
The remake is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Ubisoft also lists the game as Steam Deck Verified. The main campaign is single-player. A one-time online connection is needed for installation on PC; Ubisoft says the installed campaign can then be played offline.
What changed from the 2013 game?
Ubisoft describes Resynced as a faithful remake rebuilt from the ground up on the latest Anvil engine. The visual update includes ray-traced lighting, micropolygon rendering, dynamic weather, destructible environmental objects, and a more detailed water simulation. Ubisoft also says that sailing and land exploration connect without loading screens on current hardware.
Combat and stealth have been modernized. Edward can crouch outside of cover, visibility is affected by light and shadow, and combat puts more emphasis on parrying and timing. Parkour adds a manual jump and new ways to move off walls. Ubisoft also lists more flexible tailing missions and customizable difficulty settings.
New story and Jackdaw content
The remake adds story material around familiar characters rather than replacing Edward’s original journey. Ubisoft lists new missions with returning cast members, three recruitable officers with their own questlines, a new Blackbeard chapter, and an epilogue for Stede Bonnet. Kenway’s Fleet is integrated into the game, while the Jackdaw gains new customization options, pets, and additional sea shanties.
Naval combat also receives new options, including shrapnel barrels, 8-pounder cannons, additional firing modes, and a Ram Dash move. Ubisoft says the Naval Wanted System and Pirate Hunters return, with stronger pursuit as notoriety rises. Its naval gameplay deep dive explains the updated sailing and ship combat in more detail.
Does Black Flag Resynced have multiplayer?
No. Ubisoft’s official FAQ says the remake does not include multiplayer and is designed as a solo experience. That distinction matters because the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag included multiplayer; players should not assume that mode carries over to Resynced.
