A report from German outlet PlayFront says Sony warned distribution partners that supply constraints could continue “through early 2027 at the earliest.” The reported explanation was a combination of temporary market supply constraints and high demand.

What we still don’t have is a complete technical breakdown of those advantages.

Rockstar and Sony have not publicly specified the final GTA 6 resolution and frame-rate targets for the base PS5 and PS5 Pro, nor have they provided a complete list of the visual or performance improvements available on the Pro.

That makes it too early to turn “PS5 Pro Enhanced” into a recommendation that every GTA 6 player should buy the premium console.

If you already own a PS5, the current information doesn’t give you a reason to replace it simply because GTA 6 is coming.

GTA 6 is its own game, and Rockstar’s engine, performance targets and final optimization will determine how the two consoles compare.

The PS5 Pro Shortage Is a Separate Problem

The current stock situation is worth watching even if you have no interest in buying the Pro.

If the reported supply constraints continue into the GTA 6 launch window, players who specifically want the premium PlayStation hardware may have difficulty finding it at normal retail prices.

But that doesn’t create a new hardware requirement for GTA 6.

For now, the confirmed situation is much simpler: GTA 6 is coming to PS5, the PS5 Pro is an enhanced option, and the game was publicly demonstrated running on the standard PS5.
